SUPERCARS CHAMPIONSHIP HEATS UP: HOW THIS WEEKEND COULD UNVEIL THE 2024 CHAMPION
With the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 around the corner, the Repco Supercars Championship is heating up as we head into the penultimate race of the season. With only 225 points separating the top three drivers, the competition is fierce, leaving Surfers Paradise fans excited about whether this weekend will unveil the 2024 titleholder.
The Red Bull Ampol racing driver, Will Brown, is currently leading the Driver Standings with 2538 points. If Brown can lead with 301 points or more after this weekend at the Gold Coast 500, the Red Bull Ampol Racing driver can clinch the title, leaving the other two podium placements up for contention for the final race of the year at the Adelaide 500.
However, with 600 points up for grabs across both races, both Broc Feeney and Chaz Mostert have the opportunity to deny Brown the title this weekend in Surfers Paradise. For Brown to win, he will need to outscore Feeney by 97 points and outscore Mostert by 76 points. If either driver can close this gap, it will move the championship battle into the final round in Adelaide. Fans could see a three-way title fight this weekend, bringing memories back to 2022 from the championship battle between Chaz Mostert, Shane Van Gisbergen, and Will Davison.
The 2.96 km track is offering 85 laps of hard competitive racing this weekend for the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, with the drivers eager to score the maximum points across the board. Events kicking off from Friday, October 25th, this weekend will follow in suit of the Supercars chaos and will not be one to be missed for the fans.
